What do we do when the familiar SOVT toolkit doesn’t create the release, freedom, or efficiency we’re seeking in voice therapy or training?  In some cases, persistent tension patterns are not caused by “too much,” but by "too little" or inefficient, poorly coordinated vocal fold closure.

This workshop explores how targeted adduction work—used thoughtfully and strategically—can unlock new vocal discoveries and pathways toward improved function.

Designed for singers, voice therapy clients, voice teachers, vocologists, speech-language pathologists, and vocal coaches, this session examines when and why adding adduction may enhance rehabilitation, training, and performance.

LORI L. SONNENBERG is a Licensed Speech-Language Pathologist, Clinical Voice Specialist and Singing Voice Specialist. With over 20 years’ experience in the Singing and Speech Pathology fields, she combines her passion for treating injured voices with her extensive background as a singer and voice teacher. As a voice teacher she uses her unique background to help singers of all ages, styles and genres overcome vocal difficulties and develop the voice to its full potential. She has achieved remarkable results in working with her own students and patients as well as in assisting some of the country’s most respected voice teachers and clinicians.

Ms. Sonnenberg works exclusively with voice, upper airway, and singing disorders and specializes in helping singers overcome voice injuries, muscle tension dysphonia, post- operative voice struggles, and problematic technical voice issues. She is a certified member of the American Speech and Hearing Association (ASHA), holding the Certificate of Clinical Competency (CCC-SLP), and is a member of the National Association of Teachers of Singing (NATS). After a successful and rewarding career as a team member at a busy voice center and laryngology practice, she is now the Owner and CEO of Sonnenberg Voice, located in Downers Grove, Illinois, and has been teaching private voice since 1998.
