Dr. Trish Rooney Ed.D, MA, BMus, LLCM, DipLCM, ALCM, ATCL, LRSL, FLCM

Dr. Trish Rooney is a vocal coach, singer, researcher and director of the Academy of Popular Music.

She completed her Doctorate in Education at the Institute of Education, London with supervisor Professor Susan Hallam.

Her specialities include popular music education, group/individual teaching methodologies, vocal education, classical vs popular vocal techniques, and vocal performance.

Trish is also an advanced CoreSinging™ Teacher and gives regular vocal workshops throughout Ireland and the UK.

A published author on the topic of music education Trish is also on the editorial board of the International Journal of Learning, Teaching and Educational Research and has presented her work at Oxford University, Athens Institute of Education as well as other major International Conferences. Trish also works with Voice Workshop UK as a marker for the Postgraduate Certificate in vocal pedagogy that is run in conjunction with Cardiff Metropolitan University.

Dr. Rooney has worked extensively in the music industry, touring/recording with high profile acts and was the dedicated vocal coach for RTE’s The Voice of Ireland. Her students have performed on The Voice of Ireland, The Voice UK, The Late Late Toyshow, with Shane Filan & Daniel O’ Donnell on RTE and for president M.D Higgins.

With a first class honors degree and Master’s degree in flute performance from the Cork School of Music she has also been a member of and performed with many ensembles down through the years including the Cork Youth Orchestra, Cork School of Music Symphony Orchestra, Cork Pops Orchestra, Cork Chamber Orchestra, CSM Wind Ensemble and Vocal Chamber group, and the International Youth Wind Orchestra.
